About Illuminate PVD

The Illuminate PVD campaign enhances the vibrancy of Providence by activating and illuminating public spaces and iconic architecture.

Through dynamic lighting installations and seasonal displays, we aim to celebrate the city’s unique character while fostering a welcoming, walkable environment for residents and visitors alike. By partnering with the private sector and local community, we strive to create year-round experiences that contribute to a thriving night economy.

Illuminate PVD's goal is to transform the cityscape into a beacon of culture, creativity and connection while inspiring exploration, supporting local businesses, and showcasing the beauty of Providence after dark.

2026 Exterior Illumination Grant

The Providence Tourism Council (PTC) is offering an Exterior Illumination Grant for brick-and-mortar businesses and organizations to invest in lighting and help make the city shine.

In light of a difficult winter season and as Providence prepares to welcome visitors for activities surrounding the World Cup and the PVD Fan Zone, the program will also consider proposals for a limited scope of exterior cosmetic improvements - see below for potential projects.

  • Applicants may request up to $1,500 for short-term exterior lighting or improvement projects, including materials and labor.

  • While all are encouraged to apply, priority will be given to first-time applicants to this or the Holiday Illumination Grant.

  • Approved applicants will receive funds, in the form of a check, upon completion of the project and proof of expenditure equal to the prior approved amount or the amount spent, whichever is less.

Apply by April 17, 2026
